Grace Cole - Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Foaming Facial Wash

So I went to go buy myself some more cleanser/facial wash,
I saw Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Facial Wash, and at first I was going to buy that because I've found Tea Tree Oil really effective for my pimples and skin in general. I then saw this product and it caught my eye straight away because of it's packaging.
This was marked down from $20 to $8, I am so curious to how it will work with my skin since it's got Tea Tree Oil and Witch Hazel, which both have amazing effects on blemishes, etc.  This product I soon found out is made in England which made me even more curious, why was Chemist Warehouse selling it so cheap! I hope to get good results from this product.
I hope to review this product and tell you my thoughts on it.

Hope you're all having an awesome day :)

Dry out pimples with white vinegar! What?

When I first read this on a blog post Michelle Phan made (link here!) about 'Squeeze-Free Pimple Problem Solvers'. I was simply looking for solutions for drying out that unruly pimple because I have School photos tomorrow, which I don't really want to have a giant pimple being centre of attention, I actually want a clear face for once!
Anyway, I read on this blog post that white vinegar does the same thing as toothpaste - dissolves the pus inside the zit, therefore drying it out.
I tried this and it has seemed to reduce my pimple's size greatly. As I have noticed it does sting a little bit, and itches, but you have to resist the urge to scratch!

So if you have a pimple that is DANGER ZONE, don't pop it! Put some white vinegar on it before you go to bed.
I hope this is one tip if you haven't read it already that will save a disaster day!

Note for today:
"Damned if you do, damned if you don't."

DIY Lip Exfoliator! Works like magic.

Hello friends! Today I was experimenting with creating a lip exfoliator, I usually use sugar and honey, but today I tried out a different method that has seemed to work wonders.
Although visible results straight after using a DIY recipe can be skeptical, I kid you not.
This recipe has probably been used elsewhere but I was just experimenting today (as I stated above) and thought I should share with you.

What you need:
1 tsp of Honey
1/4 tsp of Olive Oil
1/2 tsp of Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp of Sugar (can use 'raw' sugar, but I don't have that at hand)

(Sugar looks heaped, but I levelled it when adding to bowl.)

Method:
Add Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and Honey into a bowl, mix ingredients until combined.
Place bowl into microwave and microwave for 15 seconds (on high). This should turn into a runny liquid when taken out of the microwave. Mix.
Add sugar and again mix until all the ingredients are combined and it looks like this;

To Use:
If you haven't used a lip scrub (or exfoliator) before, the technique is very simple.
Grab a pinch of the concoction and place onto lips, gently scrub in circular motion for about 15-30 seconds. (It is a bit painful, but it removes the dead skin cells from your lips and makes them super soft!)
Rinse off with water and apply a lip balm or moisturiser of some sort.

Storage:
I used a small jar to put my lip scrub in.
To lengthen shelf life you can put it in the fridge, but the due by date depends on what oils you use. Before using it, smell it, if it smells a bit off, don't use it!

(Don't mind my chickens in the picture above, they were fascinated by the yellow ribbon on the jar.)

This simple, yet affective DIY project can be given as a gift to somebody, simply put the lip scrub into a miniature jar and add a bow (and possibly other decretive bits and pieces).
Remember to add instructions on how to use it!
Hope you are all having a lovely day :)

Introduction ~

Hello and Welcome to my blog 'Desiccated Mind'.

This blog will be like a 'daily update' type of blog; posting things that happen, things that I purchase, reviews on products (as in make up/beauty wise), updates on my life and so on.
Well, My name is Julia and I am 14. My birthday is on the 14th of October.
I enjoy romantic movies and food. My interests are as follows; singing, drawing and the beloved internet.

So let's start off my first blog post with some beauty products I received in the mail;
For Neutrogena's 50th Anniversary they decided to give out free gift boxes (with 5 products - sample size of course) and your choice of coupons. I'm into free samples all the way, so how could I say no to this? I signed up to order one on my facebook account and it said error, so I tried with another account and voila!

I received my gift pack in the mail, and to my surprise I got 2! The other facebook account sign up must of worked.. oops!
So I got double of the products, and double the coupons. (YAY)
I'm not a big fan of hand creams, but this hand cream that I received smells delightful, and not just that but it absorbs very quickly.

I hope to try out these samples tonight, and hopefully I can do reviews on these baby sized products.
So cute!

I am a sucker for free samples and was overjoyed when these beauties came in the mail just after a week of ordering them.
